Mighty God, you are in the wind that moves across the waters, that whispers in the night, that will not be contained. You see more than we can ever see, and you do not look away.

For we know,

That you are a God of life, raising the oppressed, binding the wounds of the injured, restoring hope to a people in hiding because hate has found its way to their door. Protect the innocent. Provide for the widow, the orphan, the sick, and the grief-stricken. Drive a spear into the wheels of those on a mission to harm and fill the hearts of those targeted for violence with courage, resolve, and faith to follow where you lead.

And we know, you are with us as we watch, often helplessly, from a distance.

Yes, we know that you are a God of justice, who sets the prisoners free, who leads the enslaved to freedom, who weeps with those who suffer, who can and will and does breathe life into dry bones.

Help us to be still, and know, that you are God, even as we pray…

Shepherd us, oh God, beyond our thoughts, beyond our fears, from death into life.
